Days of Christmas Past

Our little Princess received a crown with earrings and a ring as part of her Christmas gifts. She also received a twirl and play Little Peoples castle.

Part of Jacks gifts included Legos, I don't know who was more excited him, or us. Chris and I love Legos. He also received "Horton Hears A Who" DVD.

What a wonderful holiday this has been. Chris and I took a different approach to Christmas this year. We have been planning for a whole year to not spend that much on Christmas gifts. So we limited the amount we planned on spending for the kids. Included with that was downsizing of things like Christmas cards. So I apologize to everyone who normally receives a card from us, we simply chose not to spend the money, it does not mean we don't still love you. It has been the best thing. There has not been the stress of overspending this year and simply enjoying the holiday. We are able to give a lot of things for free, and that is what we focused on. The absolute best part of this holiday, is that not one cent was put on a credit card. We put on Christmas without going into ANY debt. Not one little bit!! That has been the best present of it all. I think that is also why the stress has been non-existent.

A few things we enjoyed the last week or so:

DINNER WITH MY COUSINS
I reconnected with my cousin Brady, on Facebook recently, and we started talking, he suggested that we get together for dinner. My parents were coming into town and everyone could see everyone. We got together at my cousin Jamie's house in Clearfield and had pizza. It was so much fun, it has been about 15-16 years since we have really spoken with all of them, It was fun to meet everyones children and husbands and just catch up. The funny part, is that only our parents remember how we are related, none of us kids can ever remember. Basically, it is My Grandma - Elizabeth Stevenson Jones, and their Great-Grandpa - Something or other Stevenson who are brother and sister. My Great-Grandparents and their Great-Great-Grandparents are the same people. That is not confusing at all, is it? Thank you Tubbs family for your hospitality, I enjoyed catching up.

CHRISTMAS EVE DINNER
We had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner, we held it at my sister Danci's house this year. It was a good dinner. We are very casual people and do paper plates, and buffet style dinner. We aren't out to impress anyone, we just want to socialize and by making it easy we can do more socializing. Then because all of us were together we swapped gifts between the siblings and then gave the sibling gift to our parents. I was a little dissappointed in what happened to my parents gift. As part of the gift we ordered them a photo calendar with all the children and grandchildrens pictures in it. They sent my order to Connecticut, and gave me someone from Connecticuts order, so they had to reorder it, and it didn't come in time. To top it off, they reordered the wrong calendar, so they have to reorder it for a third time. Don't worry, I put up enough fuss and had it refunded. But now I will have to mail the correct one to my parents when it finally shows up. Let's hope this is the last time.
We have started a new tradition about a few years ago. My mom sewed all the costumes, and we dress up our kids as figures in the nativity. This year Jack as one of the three wise men, and Audrey was an angel. We have someone read the narration of the nativity and we all join in by singing songs along with it. It is fun to watch the kids either participate how the story says or participate in their own way like Audrey who was just running around and falling on the ground. Jack did well this year and beside some absent-minded costume fussing did really well.
Anyway, it was good to be with my family minus one sister in Oregon, she called and we all talked to her, we always miss her when she is not with us. Katie, the one in Oregon, is a very generous person, she loves her family very much and shows it in any way she can. Well she sure showed us how much she loves us by her present this year. I will leave it at that.
Katie I love you too.

MY PARENTS
Christmas day was a lot of fun, but the best part was when my parents came to stay for three nights From Saturday to Tuesday morning. We met them in Salt Lake on Saturday because they wanted to go to lunch at L&L's Hawaiian BBQ. My mother was in heaven, My Dad kept saying he needed to ordered one of everything to take with him. L&L's is my favorite restaurant as well, so it was fun that it was enjoyed by them as much as I enjoy it. We spent the rest of the day shopping around Salt Lake, and my Dad bought Jack some new shoes, which he needed desperately!
My parents also bought a few other things for us, and I just cannot express the gratitude I have for my parents. I love them so much. I miss them as well. It is nice to know that as I go through life pretending to be an adult, that I have people with more experience and know-how then I do to ask for advice and know-how with things. It is good that their are people out there who love your kids as much as you do. I want to spoil my kids, but I am the mother so I know I shouldn't, plus I can't afford. It is so cool that they do the spoiling, plus it is just as much fun for me to enjoy what they get so in a way I get spoiled as well. I also love that my husband loves them. Chris has said before he can't relate with the typical "in-law" jokes, because he gets along so well with my parents. My Dad and Chris are so similar it is scary. They are best friends, and I love it.

I have had the best holiday I can remember in the last few years. I am thoroughly exhausted by it all. Chris will work on New Years Eve and New Years Day, and that is fine by me. I will put the decorations away, and get ready for the next big event in our life - Jack's 5th Birthday. I am thankful for all the precious time I had with my family and new memories made.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

President Uchtdorf and the Tooele 8th Ward Young Men and Young Women

I got it!! My hubby was able to get the picture off my phone for me. So read the previous post and it will tell more of this photo.

The Young Men and Young Women went to temple square to see the lights for mutual last week. And we ran into President Uchtdorf, he was awesome and took time to have a picture with us.

Front Row - Left to Right

I absolutely love President Uchtdorf, the man speaks in a way that absolutely gets to me. His talk that was given during the Relief Society General Session this past October conference, was what I needed. It encouraged me and gave me hope and direction to survive some things in my life. I know he is an Apostle of Heavenly Father, and I am grateful for the small chance I had to have been in his presence.

Thank you for your time President Uchtdorf.

My Boy Jack!

What would I do without my boy! I just have to remember tonite, I had a good day - but night times I get quick tempered. I have spent maybe 4 hours with my husband since Sunday, and I am at my limit right now. Well, Jack has been a good boy all day long, he was quiet while Audrey was sleeping, he stopped whining when I wouldn't give him another snack. He has been good. Tonight, Audrey and Jack both got sent to their room for fighting - Audrey started it, but Jack reacted badly - but he wasn't really the one in trouble. I just needed him away for a minute as I composed myself. When he was allowed back out of his room, he came out all happy because he had retrieved for himself a game from the top of his closet. My thought was "Whatever." But then I went into his room and found the clothing bar in his closet snapped in half and all his clothes and a bunch of our winter coats on the floor. The dog sleeps in his closet (it does not have a door), and everything fell in the dog hair. It was the first time in a while that I have had to actually remove myself from the situation and lock myself in my room to calm down. Audrey did not like this and screamed hysterically the whole time I was in there. Needless to say it wasn't long, because Audrey was in a frenzy because of this. But it was long enough to calm down - somewhat. Jack felt so bad he had done wrong that he was on his best behavior, which had been exemplary all day long anyway. He apologized and did as he was told and cleaned it up without another incident. Meanwhile, Audrey who had been causing problems all day took off into the kitchen while I was helping Jack, stripped off all of her clothing including the diaper, climbed the kitchen drawers onto the counter and started throwing everything on the counter off. I had some preschool stuff up there leftover for today, and some for next week; a vase of pens, and random other things. I lost my cool again!! Put her in her room, and went back to clean up. After I cleaned up I just flopped myself down on the floor and sighed. Then, that sweet boy of mine, timidly came over and from the back of me, put his arms around my neck, and said into my ear: "Mom, I am so sorry that happened to you, You are a good Mom!" Ah! How sweet is that? I replied: "Jack, I am blessed to be your mommy, you are a good kid." He just smiled, then the innocence was gone and he was back to being silly again, and as I was hugging him, he accidentally elbowed me in the cheek! Ouch! 'nother Sigh!
Its the small moments I have to dwell on, because it makes the craziness bearable. I love my boy, and I am so glad that he understands compassion. Even at 4 years of age. What a kid, I love him so much. I am grateful he can positively respond when he sees I am having a hard time.
I love Audrey as well, she is such a stinker. We had mutual last night and we went to see the lights on Temple Square. While we were on the way, one of my young women, Kaycee Tomboc was in my car and we were all talking. She says to me: "Sister Unsworth, I have decided that Audrey is very independant." I replied: "What makes you say that?" Her answer: "Well, on Sunday after church, your husband picked her up from nursery, then lost track of her somehow, I watched her pull a chair from the gym out into the hallway, climb up the chair and get herself a drink of water. After the drink I offered to put the chair away for her, and she wouldn't let me." I just laughed at this, yeah, she's independant alright.
Speaking of Mutual, I met President Uchtdorf. Wow!!! We had just finished watching the narration of the nativity on temple square and right next to us, was President Uchtdorf's family. he was speaking to them in German. I looked up and went "Ah! its President Uchtdorf," then everyone turned around. I tell you, its better than meeting a rock star! Me and my loud mouth, people then starting flocking to them, and I was able to get a picture of our YM and YW with him, it was so cool. They - as in our head church figures - are so nonchalant, but when attention is drawn to themselves, the are so gracious, and patient. I know he had family there with him, and I am sure he had a million things to do, but how amazing is it, that he took time , even 3 minutes, to converse with us. I have the best calling in the world, because I wouldn't be in these places to meet these people if I wasn't in this calling. I love it!!
If anyone knows how to actually retrieve the picture from my phone to put on my computer, so I can print it, please let me know. I seem to be ignorant in this field.

Pictures of Crazy Sisters in Las Vegas

O.K. Here are the long awaited pictures of my trip to Las Vegas. To read about my trip see the previous post.

This is my nephew Jonas, Danci my older sisters youngest baby. He's 7 months old, we had a pit stop on the way down to Vegas. I was holding him while the others took a break and found these cowboy hats and we had fun dressing him up. What a cutie!

On Tuesday after the Mona Vie meeting we hit Fremont Street, we caught the last showing of the night. I love the lights of Las Vegas, it brings back so many memories of High School.

I don't know why this picture came out so small, but we saw the M&M men outside the M&M factory and of course we have to have our pictures taken, mostly for my kids.

We saw this 'Gold Man' street performer in a parking lot, My oldest nephew Parker, Katie, my youngest sisters, oldest boy loves Gold. So she got excited about this guy for him, then we all had to take a turn getting our pictures.

OK, so we hit a silly streak and were just being goof balls. Do you see the naked lady, I don't, and Danci is embarrassed by it! What a Scandal!! (Hee Hee!)

My Vegas Posse: Katie - The Younger Sister; Danci - The Older Sister; and Jonas - The Tag Along. He was fun to have, he was an absolute angel, and did not mind in the slightest being toted around the city.

This is how we spent most of the trip, just being silly!!

This is Danci trying to rid Vegas of some of it nudity! Good for you Sweetie!

This is me proving that so much nudity can turn people insane!!

Me doing what I would do if I met the real Nicholas Cage, What a Hottie, even if he is made out of wax!

A nice picture outside the Coca-Cola Factory, we got very few pictures together and a nice old man offered to take this for us. I like this picture.

VEGAS BABY!!!

All right, here is the report on my trip to Las Vegas!

Pictures are on their way. Once we were in Vegas I realized that I brought my camera, but forgot the memory card. So I am waiting for my sisters to get them to me, and one of them is being very forgetful. I am tired of waiting so here in my post without the pictures, although they will be coming. So you get double the excitement!

I had so much fun with my sisters, and I want to document this. So fair warning, this is going to be a long post.

Where to start, "THE WHY" we went to Las Vegas
about a month ago, my little sister Katie, called me, and in very confusing words asked me if I would like to go to Vegas. She needed to clarify things for me a bit, and of course I said I was game. Her husband and family work with Mona Vie, and her husband wanted her to attend a meeting/conference in Las Vegas. She said she wasn't going to go to Las Vegas unless she could see her sisters. So we worked it out to go to the meeting with her. Thanks to our husbands being willing to take time from work, and let us spend all their money. We went on Monday, December 1st, my 31st birthday, through Wednesday, December 3rd. It was driving a lot, but all we want to ever do anyway is to talk without interruption. So who cares where exactly we do that?

"THE DRIVE" down to Vegas and back.
Have you ever heard of the 'Ungame?' It is a game I discovered about a year ago and fell in love with. It is a conversation game. Basically, you take a card from the stack and read it out loud, then answer it. You interpret the question how you choose and answer. Others playing the game are not allowed to comment or laugh. They are only allowed to listen. The questions can be superficial, or really deep, depending on what version of the game you have. We changed the rules a bit, and read aloud one card, then went around the car and all answered the same question. After a few superficial cards that said things like "Say something about poetry," We decided we wanted to get deeper. We got into cards like "Say something about spiritual values" or "Talk about How Children Today Are Raised" The answers that we shared were incredible. I got to know my sisters on an even deeper level. I love them even more for the answers and opinions that were shared. It is incredible, how three women raised in the same household, had such different experiences. And now that we are adults, can have such similar lives living separately from each other. Taking both 7 hours down and 7 hours back home. We spent 14 hours sharing such deep and incredible things with each other. There was both happy tears and sad tears. Tears in general, we got Katie going first, which is to be expected she cries at everything. Second was me, and finally we got Danci. I loved hearing our testimonies born to each other. I love knowing they have the same passion about the gospel as I do. We talked ourselves hoarse. Thursday was our Recovery day, and we all felt it in our throat.

The "MONDAY NIGHT DINNER" story
So we arrived at our hotel, at about 7:00, and were starving. We set off to find a place to eat. We wanted something quick and easy, so we were not looking for a real fancy place. We settled on a place called "J&J's Boulangerie" It was a pizzeria, salad, and sandwich place. Perfect! Katie and I went with just pizza, which Katie picked all the toppings off and had basically bread, sauce, and cheese. (You know I love you - Picky eater!) But Danci, doesn't intentionally be picky. She is nursing her baby still who has an extreme milk allergy. Yes, he will grow out of it, but he is only 7 months old, so it is an big problem right now. He responds negatively to all dairy he receives from her as well. So dairy is out for Danci. Danci decided to get a salad in which she was able to remove the cheese. She took about 3 bites of it, and was disgusted. The eggs were terrible. The salad was limp, and the vegetables not tasty. She debated about whether or not to try to return it, because she just couldn't eat it. I encouraged her to return it, and volunteered to go with her. Well, the lady we originally tried to return it to was just an idiot. I couldn't even understand her, the way she spoke. We finally asked for a manager, and he came out with his guard up already. And just broke into accusing us. He kept saying that the salad was almost gone, and would not stop talking to hear even hear two words out of us. Danci kept her cool a lot longer than I did. We were both trying to reason with the obstinate man, but were getting nowhere. I finally lost it, then yelled over him "Do not tell me this salad is gone, I can see it right here, she had three bites out of it." He became even more irate and so did I. We ended the confrontation with me saying very loudly: "You have a crap salad, and a crap restuarant, and you have successfully created two unhappy customers." Then we threw the salad in the garbage right next to him, and walked out.
So you might be thinking, it was wrong of us to return the salad in the first place. But Danci has this allergy that is a problem for her, and the salad was crap. She is not able to replace the salad with just anything because she can't have the mayonnaise or cheese, even the bread that comes on pizza and sandwiches she can't handle. Plus, just don't piss me and my sisters off, we are trouble individually, but together we are absolutely lethal! My point - if you happen to be in Las Vegas, in the shops between Bally's and the Paris do not go to J&J's Boulangerie. It sucks!

The "TUESDAY NIGHT DINNER" Story
We were shopping at the M&M Store, when Katie got a call. I don't know how it transpired, but the guy who is her husbands 'upline' within Mona Vie wanted to take us to dinner. They decided on a very nice buffet place, called Le Village Buffet also in the Paris. He brought a couple people with him and including us there were 6 adults, plus baby Jonas. We paid and were waiting to be seated, Danci, Katie, and I had no problem waiting, but the guy who paid, obviously did. After we were seated he complained to a manager, and the manager tried to make it all nice. The manager then gave us two plates piled high with King Crab legs. Whaaaaa! Crab is my favorite!! Every year for my birthday I request my annual crab dinner. I didn't think I would get it this year because I was going to Vegas. That absolutely made my night. I told my sister, that if I fell into a crab coma, to just make sure I made it back to our hotel room.
The funny part of this story is, is that I was the only one on the table who had such a passion for crab. The others didn't even know how to eat it. I am sitting at the table with people who make about $500,000 a year. Half-Milllionaires basically. Who live in L.A., and have fresh seafood at any time. My only problem is that I eat crab with no inhibitions. I dig in and thoroughly enjoy myself. The others including my sisters, timidly grab a leg and start tasting. One guy, named Curtis was sitting across from me and asked me to teach him how to eat the crab. I basically said this: "I know how to eat and enjoy crab, I just don't know how to do it with utensils, so this is what I do." I then showed him how to break the leg, get the meat out and of course reminded him not to forget the knuckles, which is the best part. Curtis was game for my 'manners-less' way to eat, and dug in with me. Then the whole table got in on the action. I spent the better part of an hour, teaching everyone how to eat crab. It was so much fun. As you probably know, I am a big dessert fan, but I totally forgot about dessert and ate as much crab as I possibly could. I was thought these rich people were cool, for being game with how I went about eating. YUM!

The term "SECOND HAND DRINKING" story
We stayed out until 2:00 in the morning on Tuesday. We decided to go to the Fremont Street Experience after Katies meeting. The show on Fremont, was awful. I have seen some amazing shows there, but this was just barely clothed women, dancing to bad music. I was disappointed. When we finally made our way back to the hotel, we were so exhausted, and completely slap-happy. Slap-Happy includes us laughing hysterically at the smallest things, and not completely understanding conversations. We arrived at the hotel, but parked in a different place so were not completely sure what level we needed to be on to get back to our room. At one point, after going up and down the elevator a hundred times, I was pretty sure we had the right level. I slowly got off the elevator and looked down the hallway, Danci and Katie stood there like wax statues. The next thing I know the elevator doors closed and left me alone in the hallway, while those two went to who knows where. Now remember, the term exhausted doesn't come close to how tired we actually were. I had no idea what to do, so I started banging on the elevator doors, and calling for them. Then I realized I should probably hit the button, soon enough I could hear it coming back and I started laughing so hard. I was laughing so hard with my entire body. I was bent over at the waist, stomping my foot on the ground, crying, and laughing so hard I couldn't breath. The funny part about this was, when the elevator doors finally opened again, we were all in the exact same position laughing that way. And when we saw each other doing it all the same, it made us laugh even harder, if that was even possible. We call this position the "Bethel Indian Dance." For those of you who don't know, "Bethel" is our maiden name.
The next morning we had confused ourselves so much the night before, that we couldn't find the car to leave. We had to be up and on our way by 9:00, to be able to make Katies flight back in Salt Lake. So going to bed late, then getting up early we weren't any better off than the night before. Again we went up and down elevators looking for our car, this time with all our luggage. Finally, we stopped at the end of a set of stairs, while Danci ran up to find our car. While she was gone, Katie and I continued to laugh and be crazy. An employee was out on a break, and overheard that we were having troubles. She came over to us, and started asking us questions like "Do you remember getting off an elevator?" or "Are you sure this is the right hotel?" Questions one might ask a person who has a complete hangover. This again set us off laughing as we joked that even though we are not drunk, there is enough people here who are, and that the alcohol must be seeping through their pores, and in turn intoxicating us. Therefore, "Second Hand Drinking." So, No, we never drank alcohol, but we were intoxicated with laughter and good company nontheless.

We talked, laughed, and cried so much. We are already planning the next sisters trip. We did some sightseeing, a lot of shopping, but the only thing we wanted to do was be together. And that is what we did. I love you Danci and Katie. I had a lot of fun.

Domestic Goddess

Check me out I can sew!

So our ward had a sewing class, and made Christmas Stockings. It was the absolute hardest thing I have done in a long time. I think it would have been easier if I had a better machine. I was able to learn well enough that day to make one, then I came home and did the other three and the nametags all by myself. I did not make the dog one, that is store bought. I prefer to have uniform stockings. That is how I was raised so I like it better. This is the first year that we have all had new, matching stockings. I love my little Stocking hook since we don't have a fire place. Yea! for me.

Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

I had quite and enjoyable Thanksgiving this year. This was the 'off' year for our family, so originally we didn't have anywhere to go. I really don't mind, we just planned on going to Marie Calendar's or something like that for dinner. Since, my husband doesn't put to much stock into this holiday. Because us Americans were basically traitors to England, then made a holiday out of it. No, he is a good sport. Plus, he loves good food. Anyway, my brother invited us to his house down in Provo. They have just one daughter who is Jacks age. This is the only cousin who is Jack's age, her name is Jodie. So we went down for a nice, small, and quiet Thanksgiving dinner, just 4 adults and and 3 kids. We arrived about 12:30 PM, then spent the next little while finishing up the dinner. We sat down around 2:00 and had the best food. The turkey, was fabulous! The company, and conversation was awesome. After dinner, we played the game Apples to Apples. I played this at a girls night a few weeks ago, and fell in love with it. So I borrowed the game from my friend Annie Palmer, and took it down with us. We had a lot of fun, Scott won the game. Afterward, we all went and saw the new Disney movie "Bolt." It was O.K. Jack enjoyed it, and Audrey got bored after about 45 min. So I spent most of the time running around the movie theater. Literally doing laps, around the circular complex. Every now and then, we would stop and I would watch Audrey, run circles around a column, or play with the water fountain. Finally, she sighed and asked to be picked up. We went back in the theater and finished the last 10 minutes. Ahhh! Movies with toddlers! It could be a movie in and of itself.

This is Jack (4) wearing a Santa hat, and because we only had one hat, Audrey (2) is actually wearing a stocking on her head, to be like her brother.

Jack (4) had to have his picture taken with "His" dog, Bisto (4).

Audrey, (2) was so cute. Here she is playing with all the unused, old stockings and santa hat. She played for a long time like this.

Friday, after Thanksgiving, we set up Christmas. It was so much fun. Our tree has the bragging rights of a family with young kids, and we love it. We went to Walmart and for a few things, (no, not toys), and my husband saw this stable. He thought it would be perfect for my nativity scene. My nativity is about 40 years old, it was given to me by my Grandma Jones, who is now deceased. I love it, but it is a white ceramic, so when you have white, or off white walls, it disappears. The stable adds some color, and highlights the Christ child with Mary and Joseph. I then bought some green fabric, and made some background to go behind them. It helps alot, though the background still needs some work.
My children keep pretending they are presants, and hiding under the tree telling me to "open me up, and take out the toys." They are being really cute.
I am so excited for out sister trip to Las Vegas. I can't even think about anything else. I still have to go to a meeting tomorrow, help Jack with his talk, teach a lesson, and pack. I am going to be so giddy tomorrow. I just can't wait.
VEGAS BABY! VIVA LAS VEGAS! WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS, STAYS IN VEGAS!

Thankful

My friend Lori, did this on her blog, and I thought with it being the season of Thanksgiving and the fact that nothing interesting happened in my life this last week, I do this for my blog. But I always enjoy things like this anyway.

5 Things I am Thankful for: I might find it hard to stop at 5 though.

1. The gospel. This gospel has given me an eternal marriage, an eternal family. Has picked me up when I have been so far down. Sees my efforts and makes up for the rest. Taken care of me, forgiven me, and has blessed me in every aspect of my life. Without this gospel, I am nothing.

2. My husband and family. There is not a better man in the world than my husband. Who better to put up with my craziness, make up for all my weaknesses, and be the most incredible father than Chris? No one. My children, Jack, is extreme in everyway possible. He laughs loudly, plays loudly, cries and complains loudly. Then he loves extremely, with his actions, with his words, with his whole being. Audrey, is tender, she shows her affection, is grateful for those around her. Stubborn, she gets what she's after, and as long as those are the right things, I can't ask for a better gift.

3. Job security. For the first time in our life, we see longevity with this company. It is a very secure, and satisfying feeling.

4. My Friends. I have been worried about becoming depressed this winter, which always seems to happen to me at this time of year. But I have people to talk to, places to go. People that I am interested in knowing how their day went, and that I feel are genuinely interested in mine. I love my friends, and with them I don't think I have to worry much about depression.

5. My Mom and Sisters. I love them. Near or Far, you can't fart without anyone of them knowing. I like being in their business, and I like them in mine. I like that I can have an opinion, that someone else might shoot me for, and they can agree with me, and react like me.

Do I have to stop now? I suppose I should. Only for the sake of typing, but my list could go on forever.

Guy Fawkes Night!

This is Chris burning Guy Fawkes at the stake.

Happy Guy Fawkes Day!!

O.K. so Guy Fawkes Day is officially on the 5th of November, but we celebrated it on Saturday,
November 8th. This is a major Holiday in England. Chris and I celebrated it every year, before we had kids. Then due to a lot moving around, and the fact that kids in the cold around a campfire can be very difficult, we stopped celebrating it for a few years. But, incorporating English traditions into our family is important to us,
and we wanted to continue this one on particularly. We were talking about having a party a few months ago, and decided to do it. We have a backyard with no grass in it yet, A fabulous group of friends, and doing it at home, people can take a break from the cold if needed. So we went ahead with it and had a fabulous time. We told everyone invited to bring their own meat to Bar-B-Que and a traditional English dish to share. It was so much fun talking to people about what they were bringing. I had a lot of people asking me if I knew what this or that was, and considering I am not the English one, I was kind of confused. My favorite was when Heather Boone called to ask me what a "rasher" of bacon was. I just laughed because I had no idea, I asked my
friend Claire Nelson, who is from England and she responded "Uh, a piece of bacon, duh!" How silly, it sounds self explanatory when put that way, but I didn't get it. We had a good group of people come, and it was craziness while we were BBQ-ing and eating our food, then everyone settled around the fire or in the living room, to talk and hang out. It was really good, because Roseann Davis had been really sick, and Tifny Cano had little baby Kaitlin that she didn't want in the cold. So those two along with a few others stayed in the house, while most people braved the cold and stayed out by the campfire. I went in between both groups, and had the best time socializing. The kids had a lot of fun as well, they ran between the bedrooms, downstairs, and outside. There were a few scuffs and fights, but mostly they got along really well. It is fun to see us Moms and Dads becoming better friends, and see our children become quite the gang themselves. All in all the evening was a hit. One thing great about being a member of the church is everyone's willingness to clean up afterward, no matter where you are. Everyone helped put chairs away, and cleaned up the plates and stuff, so it make the clean up for Chris and I almost minimal. Thank You Everyone for coming! Plan on next year, we will do this again!

These are just some cute pics of the kids over Halloween.

Audrey with a mustache. How cute is she? (2yrs)

Jack as Indiana Jones with a mustache (4yrs)

Jack (4) with Mom (30) with our Jack-O-Lanterns. Sheilas is on the left, it is princess crown. Jacks is in the middle, it is a face that he did all by himself. Chris' is on the end, he is a pro and looks forward to pumpkin carving every year, seeks out his favorite design and spends the rest of the evening working on it. Good job, Sweetie!

Jack (4), being as sweet as can be.

Jack (4) decided to dress up in this duck, Halloween costume. He is such a goof, it is only size 18 months. He was totally playing the part as well, walking around quacking and even laying some eggs.

A Brand New Year

Well last night, I was able to attend a New Year's Eve Broadcast meant for the Youth. A taping to be played on New Year's Eve. It was so awesome. Originally I was told it was to be a First Presidency's Message, for the youth. But, it wasn't. And that was O.K. Before the event started someone noticed Sister Julie Beck sitting the row in front of us. A couple girls and I got up and introduced ourselves to her. She was amazing, looked us right in the eye, and hugged each one of us. She was genuinely glad to meet us. You could just feel her spirit, and I was thankful to meet her. Sister Beck is the General Relief Society President.

The theme for the night was "A Brand New Year" we heard a short message from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, which was inspiring. He talked about Joan of Arc and how she refused to deny her religious beliefs, and therefore died at the stake. He made it a point to mention how he doesn't want us to die, but that we should stand up for what we believe in. He said "One life is all we have" and that "Each [person] gives their life to what they believe in." It was soooo good.

Then Brother Dalquist and Sister Dalton the Young Men and Young Women's General President introduced the Mutual Theme for 2009. Timothy 4:12 "Be thou an example of the believers. . . ." That should be good theme to study on next year.

The rest of night was a concoction of Singing, movie segments, and narrations. It was fun and lively and brought me to tears a couple of times. It is not a hidden secret that I am little over the top. I am big in my actions, and voice. That is how I feel about the gospel, I just want to scream and jump, about its truth sometimes, and that is how this fireside was portrayed last night. I wish General Conference could be that exciting. It was 2 1/2 hours long, and did not even feel like it. It really gave me hope for the future. These youth are incredibly strong. It also gave me courage to be the mother I am, and confers I am doing the right thing by staying at home with my children. I hope my children are at least this strong, hopefully stronger for the next generation.

One last fun thing we did, at the beginning they handed everyone a Strength of the Youth Pamphlet, at one point in the program they had the whole auditorium hold up the pamphlet, and stated that this pamphlets is a symbol of our standards and we are showing them to the world. It was so wonderful, I am getting choked up now remembering it last night. I am so thankful to have been a part of this. I can't wait for the DVD to come out.

YWIE 2008

Well, last night we had a very successful Young Women in Excellence. I love it when things just flow right. The program for last night was planned entirely by inspiration, and went exactly as planned. The spirit was there, and all was good. We had tables for the girls to put there displays on, then for the program, I gave a talk, so did our Bishop. Then, the Young Women recited, mostly memorized, the Proclamation on the family, then each girl was given a minute to answer the question of how she had strengthened herself during the year, then time was given to those who had any performances or slideshows or something. Then we closed and had refreshments. Short, simple, to the point, but exactly how it should have gone.
I love working toward things like this, and this has been a huge part of my life the last month. I am glad its over, and I can enjoy the holidays now, one reason I had it early in the month. Then after Christmas is over, I will start planning New Beginnings. But of course this week, I still am looking forward to the Fireside, and Guy Fawkes Night.
I had a lot of fun at Super Saturday, I made a Family Home Evening Board, and Christmas Crackers, which is very traditional in England. A tradition we have wanted to keep up, but they are so expensive to buy, but now I know how to make them, so we will do it every year from now on.

A week in the life of. . . .

Well this week started off with Jack being in the Primary Program on Sunday. Jack is only a sunbeam, so this is the first time I have ever had a child in the Primary Program. Strangely enough, this is the first time Chris and I have ever really enjoyed the Primary Program. I was so stinking proud of him. He got up to the pulpit and said his lines - memorized - perfectly. Beaming from ear to ear. I enjoyed watching him sing. It was almost as if, he kept on doing what he was doing and just sang as well. His good friend and only other sunbeam classmate, Sheyla Davis, was up there with him and the two looked as if they could have been married or on a date. They started to sing "I am a Child of God" and while they were singing, they would look at each other smiling. It was so precious. Those two are quite the pair, I love watching them, and I am glad they have each other to be buddy's with at church activities. Audrey also enjoyed watching Jack, she kept calling out to him, and waving "Hi" and when we gave her some fruit snacks, she tried to go up and share with him. What a sweetie, I am glad she loves her brother.

This is a picture of Jack and Sheyla Davis one day playing Fireman and Paramedic

Monday I learned how to make homemade Laundry soap. I was quite intrigued by this idea, a little leary, but intrigued. We made it there together, then were able to take some home with us, to try - see if we like it. Turns out, I love it. I was worried about the smell. I wanted my laundry to smell clean and fresh, and it does. The idea is to use the homemade soap for about three weeks, then take a week and use Tide or whatever. I am making it myself tomorrow, we'll see how I do on my own. Then again we'll see if I like it over time.
Tuesday we had our weekly playgroup, or Talkative Tuesday. I love it, I love hanging out with my friends, while our kids play. Audrey is at that stage, where I can't let her just go play, so a play group is real beneficial for her right now. I really enjoy the break in monotony of the normal week. It is therapeutic to be among women who share your same worries and troubles, I love those women ( and you know who you are) and I love Tuesday's.
Mutual was fun on Wednesday - the youth had their own Halloween party or Octoberfest Party, as they wanted it called. It was absolute craziness, but I loved it. I have some young women, that just go completely Ga Ga, when we have the boys there. We had some inactive young men show up, twins, who are quite cute, and some of our girls just went berzirk.
I voted on Thursday, early voting, got it out of the way, don't think I will change my mind in the next four days before the official voting day. Chris feels it is very important for me to vote, I do as well, but my vote kind of counts as two. Because Chris does not have the opportunity to vote, though he still pays taxes and is accountable to our laws, he makes sure that I take advantage of that right. By the way, I am not complaining, yes he could choose to become a citizen, but that is entirely his decision. I will support whatever decision he chooses.
I am looking forward to Super Saturday in a couple of days, I enjoy doing crafts. I am making a Family Home Evening Board, and Christmas Crackers. Then of course, Young Women's in Excellence is on Sunday. I feel ready for it, a little stressed, but nothing to lose sleep over. I think we have a good program. I am not one to have silly themes like "The Jungle" or "Oscar Night." I keep it on the spiritual side, because I get more inspired that way, and it just feels right. So our theme is "Strengthen Home and Family." We have been studying and working on memorizing "The Family; A Proclamation to the World," I had every intention to have the whole thing memorized, but then I had my miscarriage and I really lost interest in doing so. But, I have tried really hard this last week, to become very familiar with certain paragraphs - Hey, I do what I can do.
Time for some pictures - I have every intention to use this blog as more of a journal, that everyone has access to. And since I don't scrapbook, I would like to fill my book with pictures. Here are some fun ones.

Jack actually took this one of us, he's got quite the eye. October 2008

Family Photos Week

What another fun filled week. Audrey got sick on Wednesday and spent the day throwing up, after Chris gave her some medicine to stop that, it started coming out the other end. I felt so bad for her. Her energy didn't seem to waiver though, she just played right on through being sick. We bought her some powerade to rehydrate her, and that is just as good as Kool-Aid in her mind, so she loved it. By the way, powerade, gatorade, and pedialyte are all the same thing, remember that and save some money next time. So she got better, but passed it along to Chris and I. Friday morning Chris started with it really bad. I never got as bad as him, but I had a slight temperature, and those horrible body aches all day. I didn't ever have an appetite, but I finally forced something down about 4:00 in the afternoon and started to feel better after that.

Saturday, Jack went to the Primary Program practice, and I went with the youth to do service hours at D.I. A week or so ago, I didn't really want to go, but after thinking about it, I thought it might be kind of fun. I enjoyed it immensely. I priced and sorted out shoes. It was kind of fun, because I was looking for any shoes in the sizes of my family. I wouldn't mind doing it again.

Then Saturday afternoon, we took family pictures. My dear friend Lori Welch (Yes, you are dear to me) came and took the pictures for us. Family pictures can be the most dreaded thing, especially outside. But we survived and made off with a bunch of cute pictures. Those are the pictures above.

Halloween is in a few days, I suppose we will try to put on happy faces for the kids. I wouldn't mind doing away with this holiday. Maybe I will try to start a new holiday instead - The "I don't want to have to buy candy for other kids, and have my own come home all high on sugar, and wear our own clothes because I hate costumes" holiday. We can celebrate by doing exactly what was stated. I am sorry I am so much of a halloween grinch. Sometimes I wish I could like it more, but I just don't.

I am looking forward to the first week in November a lot things going on out Young Women in Excellence, Being a part of a taping for a fireside by the First Presidency, having our attic insulated, a trip to Salt Lake and GUY FAWKES NIGHT!!

This was kind of silly, but still fun, didn't think I would be an alien!

Busy, Busy, Busy

What a fun week I have had. I enjoy weeks that I have a lot going on, and weeks that I don't, this week I enjoyed being busy. Mutual on Wednesday was a lot of fun, we went around to different people in the ward and did service projects at their houses. Then afterward we came back and had hot chocolate and donuts. Then, because we met early for mutual to have extra daylight, we had volleyball practice after. Thursday night, we had a volleyball game. Actually, we had two. Back to back games. We played and lost the first game, then the second game the other team didn't show up, So everyone was their and someone asked if the parents and leaders could play against the girls. I had so much fun, so everyone played. We played with nine people on each team. I haven't played an actual game of volleyball in years and I really enjoyed it. Friday Night, was Girls Night. A bunch my friends met at one of our houses and had homemade Lasagne, Which was the best thing I have ever eaten. Then stayed up talking until 1:00 in the morning. I love that kind of stuff. Women need to talk, without interruption, to other women. We will keep having our Girls nights, because I love it. Then on Saturday, I had to get up at 6:00 in the morning to go do Baptisms for the Dead. Yes, I didn't get to bed until 1:30 and I was TIRED!! But I love being with our YW they are the best in the world. And their energy kept me awake and moving. I love this calling, it is so demanding, and time-taking. But it is so rewarding as well. We are getting ready for our Young Women in Excellence, so I am a little more busy getting those preparations done. We have an awesome opportunity to go watch and be part of the taping for a Youth New Year's Eve Fireside, put on by the First Presidency. It is only for the girls and their leaders. No parents. It is awesome that this calling let's me participate in something like this, even though it for the youth. Who would pass up an opportunity to hear the prophet speak? Well, life is good. I have already started Christmas shopping, so I don't break the bank or go into debt for it. I am happy and moving on from things. Thanks everyone for all your prayers.

Quirky Things

I got tagged by my little sister. I love these tags, I think it is a fun way to get to know people better. So here goes,
7 Quirky Things about myself

1. I can pinch something or someone with my toes, hard enough that it can bruise.
2. I cannot stand to have someone chew with their mouth open. Smacking its called. It irritates me more quickly than anything else.
3. Wrapping presents is so fun for me, but I have to seal it shut. To leave any part of the folded paper left without tape is unbearable. I am forced to leave bits open now, so that tiny baby finger can open their presents. I have been in trouble for doing this before, but I fight it every time.
4. I am the only person I know that is not afraid of public speaking. Honestly, it does not even bother me.
5. If there were a diet that consisted of just different types of bread, I would be the skinniest girl alive. I could eat bread all day. I love BREAD.
6. I use sarcasm in 95% of all my conservations. I think I confuse and offend a lot of people that way, but if I do I put it down to them having a bad sense of humor.
7. I like counting change. We have a big change bucket where everyone puts their spare change. And every now and then, I pull it out and count it all. Along with that, I love to take a deck of cards and put them in order.

That was harder, than I thought it would be, because these things aren't quirky to me, they are just what I do. Now, I tag - LORI WELCH, ANNIE PALMER, AND AMANDA OTIS

Stupid Emotions

My two rascals, are the cutest things on the planet. I am so blessed to have them in my life.
Well, I suppose the cat is out of the bag. Many people already know, but a lot don't. I am very fickle in my emotions right now, sometimes I don't want to think about it, and other times I do. Right now, I guess I do.
As of last Monday, September 28th I was eight weeks pregnant. But that evening, I started to spot. I hoped it would go away, then on Wednesday I could not fight the impression to go the ER. Going to the ER is a little embarrassing for me, as this is almost Chris's office, and he knows everybody there. Which in turn means everybody knows my personal business. Anyway, So we went in, and after blood tests, and an ultrasound they learned that this pregnancy was no longer viable, and that I was going to miscarry - sometime. I was an absolute wreck. How can this be happening a second time. As I read on-line about this specific type of miscarriage I learned that the placenta can support itself for up to two months without a viable fetus. So of course, I scare myself into thinking that that might happen to me. Over the course of the next two days, I had the "melt down," and after being in extreme pain on Friday, I actually had the miscarriage over Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Yea, conference weekend. Don't ask me what was said, because I wasn't watching. It was almost unbearable that it took that long. I saw my OB on Monday, and was given a lot of pills to help finish the process. Which was not the most enjoyable thing.
So here I am Thursday night, I wish I could stop thinking about it. How can it be that my mother, my older, and my younger sister can all have 4 healthy pregnancies without a problem. Why am I the odd one out? Even both my grandmothers had 3, without problems. I hate that I have to go through this again. I hate that I have to deal with these emotions again. I hate that this problem has been forced upon me. I am mad, I am pissed off, and I am scared it will be as hard as last time. I hate that it is winter, I always get depressed in the winter, because I am stuck at home all day with no escape. I don't want to be stuck at home, having to deal with these stupid emotions. If we had a second car, I think I could feel that I have an ability to get out, but in winter without a car, that is just too hard to do.
The worst part is, is that I can feel the presence of another child in my home. I want another baby. If I ever get that, I don't know.
I do have to say that I don't blame Heavenly Father, whatever the reason is that I have to go through this again, I don't know, I may never know. But I know that He will help me to get through it, and be better for it. Like the scripture that says he gives you weaknesses and through your faith makes them strengths. It is this scripture and the faith of my mother who made a specific call to tell me that after a lot prayer, told me she knows that everything will be O.K. I don't know that, but she seems to, and the scriptures don't lie, so that is what I am riding on right now.

Husband Tag, I'm It!

Got your message Annie, I will try to keep this G rated

1. Where did you meet? Chris and I met at Camp Maple Dell which is a Boy Scout Camp. I had worked there for many, many summers, and Chris had come over from England as an International Scouter and we met.

2. How long you dated before you got married? We met in June of 1998 and married in March of 1999, so that's 10 months. Long for LDS, short for non-LDS. Yes we get teased about it, and I am O.K. with that.

3. How long have you been married? 9 1/2 years, March will be the big 10. :)

4. What is your favorite feature of his? His accent - No, I'm kidding that was one thing that attracted me to him, but now I would have to say his smile, and I see it every time I look at my son.

5. What is your favorite quality of his? This is a man who will drop anything to help me, or any other person at all. I see it with our family, and within his work.

6. Does he have a nickname for you? Mom, I know real romantic huh! My older sister thinks its weird. But I like it.

7. What is his favorite color? Red, although his entire wardrobe is Blue

8. What is his favorite food? He likes any and all good food. But his favorite would be a fat, juicy steak. A luxury he never had as a child.

9. What is his favorite sport? Football in England, Soccer in America - Though we call it the proper name.

10. When and where was your first kiss? Our first date actually, and there was a lot of it. Yes, I'm easy. It was on Ensign Peak in Salt Lake City over looking the valley at about midnight.

11. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Eat dinner without children!! We experienced this the other night in our own home. I was amazed at was a good conversation can be had when your not constantly interrupted.

12. Do you have any children? The two most beautiful ones every placed on the earth. Jack Christopher Unsworth - 4, but the size of a 6 year old, and Audrey Unsworth - 2, who has spirit to blow anyone over.

13. Does he have a hidden talent? This man can parallel park that would make anyone gawk! I have to admit, it is a little bit of a turn on. Seriously, he can park a car in a space two inches larger than the vehicle with enough room to open the door on the other side, he's amazing. He should teach classes, Although, after almost 10 years of marriage, why learn, I just let him do it.

14. How old is he? 33, but his driver's license still has his picture at 23! Doesn't look like him at all.

15. Who said "I love you" first? How sad is this, I honestly can't remember, I think it was him, but I know I said right after. Unless it was me first.

16. What do you admire most about him? There are many things that I admire, but I have always loved the fact, that he was raised in a place where drinking was legal at 16, he had many girl - friends, and raised where the church was the minority, and he never got drunk, never got into any trouble he shouldn't have, went on a mission, and stayed a worthy priesthood holder. I hope my kids have even an ounce of that, if they do we will both be better off.

17. Do you think he will read this? I don't think he will on his own, but I am going to tell him to do so. Because I love him!! He is my entire world!!

Alright, that was fun. Now I tag Katie Fox, Amanda Otis, Lori Welch, and Heather Slack
